ST. JOSEPH —  A policeman testified Thursday that Benton Harbor City Commissioner David Shaw knocked away his arm during an attempted patdown and struggled to avoid being taken into custody outside a nightclub Oct. 5.

Hothman Misane, a Benton Harbor public safety officer, said he met the resistance from Shaw while investigating a loud argument between two people in a parking lot near  Jay’s Lounge, 999 Pipestone St.
