BERRIEN SPRINGS - Congress' inability to reach an agreement on across-the-board budget cuts will likely mean a loss of $357,113 in federal funds for the Berrien Regional Education Service Agency.

Losing those funds will hurt programs that help vulnerable student populations - including career and technical education, Head Start, Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act and Title I funds, Berrien RESA Superintendent Kevin Ivers said.

Where in the U.S. Constitution does it authorize the Federal Government to provide funds for this program? This is but one of thousands of programs that must be ended at the Federal level and debated to see if it is necessary to exist at the State/Local level.
