Township Supervisor Mike Hildebrand announced Tuesday night that 95 percent of the $4.8 million needed has been secured.

Well, while I remain skeptical on the Township's insistant refusal to listen to the will of the people, I am heartened by the Village's commitment to this project, and to its willingness to work with the Township Board again. However, I will remind "citizen" that the reason that the Township was forced to pay damages to the Village was because Ernie Hildebrand signed an 11th-hour deal with the Village, the day before the recall election was to take place that ultimately removed 5 of the Township Board members. The Township refused to listen to the will of the people then, and seem to be stubbornly clinging to that same mindset. Time will tell whether or not the Township Board will actually begin to listen to the will of the people.

We have come a long way since Oronoko Township paid damages to the Village for breech of contract several years ago.
