Harris sets a public hearing for Dec. 4 on special assessment

BENTON HARBOR - More than 4,300 Benton Harbor property owners will be affected by a special assessment if a proposal by the city's emergency financial manager goes through.

The city mailed notices to 4,329 property owners about a public hearing on whether the charge should be added to the city's winter taxes. The hearing will be at 6 p.m. Dec. 4 at 200 Paw Paw Ave. in Benton Harbor, according to Emergency Financial Manager Joseph Harris.

    Hey I thought that now that Obama and the Democrats have won the election all these problems would either go away or be resolved by Washington. What did our Lord and Savior mislead us?? Tell me it aint so.

    All I know is that BH should solve its own problems and that the state should not send any money to BH or any other municipality, Detroit or St. Joseph, to bail them out from their bad decisions. This is not fair to those municipalities that managed their money well.

    The concept of from each according to their abilities to each according to their needs is a failed concept and needs to be stopped dead.
