ST. JOSEPH - The consolidation of St. Joseph's police and fire departments, which is projected to save the city $750,000 a year, has also brought in a $199,508 state grant that will be used to buy safety equipment and fix streets.
In fact, the city received almost twice what it requested, City Manager Frank Walsh said. The grant application was for $99,754 for the $199,508 in expenditures.
