BENTON HARBOR — Almost 25 years ago, a young Benton Harbor student died while walking to school when the sidewalk adjoining the Britain Avenue bridge over Ox Creek collapsed.

On Monday, Benton Harbor city commissioners are expected to name the bridge after Twijuana Marie Floyd, who was 12 when she died on Sept. 17, 1996. She was on her way to Martin Luther King Jr. High School on Britain Avenue, where she was in seventh grade.
