The Britain Avenue Bridge, crossing Ox Creek, will be named after a Benton Harbor student who died 25 years ago when a sidewalk adjoining the bridge collapsed.

BENTON HARBOR — The Britain Avenue Bridge in Benton Harbor will be renamed the Twijuana Marie Floyd Memorial Bridge on Saturday to remember the young student who died while walking to school 25 years ago.

Benton Harbor City Commissioner Ron Singleton said family and friends are expected to make a few remarks before releasing 25 balloons in her memory. He said the ceremony, which starts at 1 p.m., will include a ribbon cutting and a walk across the bridge.
