BENTON HARBOR — Benton Harbor’s flooding problem along Riverview Drive and the lower part of Main Street will be studied if the state approves the city’s grant application.

City commissioners Monday approved applying for a $300,000 grant from the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy. The study is expected to develop possible solutions to the flooding, which occurs when the water level in the St. Joseph River is high.
