BENTON HARBOR — Benton Harbor school board trustees on Tuesday approved asking state legislators to put a five-year moratorium on new charter schools being approved within the school district.
The resolution states that the district has lost many students and their corresponding state aid to charter schools over the past 10-plus years. It says that the moratorium would help the district as it “continues its long journey to deficit recovery.”
