BENTON HARBOR — Benton Harbor firefighters received an almost $264,000 state grant for much needed breathing apparatus, Public Safety Director Dan McGinnis said Wednesday.

He said the money will pay for 30 self-contained breathing apparatus, which includes masks and packs with air bottles that firefighters wear when they need to go into a smokey building. In addition, he said the money will pay for a new air compressor to fill the air bottles with.
