Lincoln Township Fire Chief Brandon Chiarello is reminding residents to be careful with fires, candles and Christmas trees this holiday season.

As families celebrate the holidays, Southwest Michigan fire officials are urging people to stay safe from fires throughout the holiday season.

The U.S. Fire Administration reports that fires during the holiday season typically injure about 2,600 people and cause more than $930 million in damage.

Crews work a residential fire in front of a holiday scene in Baroda in December 2015.
