BENTON HARBOR — Some might know of June as the month when companies turn their social media profile picture into a rainbow, but might not know that Pride Month started with a riot 51 years ago.

LGBTQ people have for years had to protest and win legal battles, like the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision on Monday, for their rights, and they have been doing so right alongside people of color fighting for their rights.
