BENTON HARBOR — Members of the Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety and Michigan State Police believe that, by working together, they likely prevented a shooting Thursday night and took several guns off the streets.

State troopers working in Benton Harbor as part of a Secure Cities Partnership, responded to assist Benton Harbor police who had been called at about 9:30 p.m. to the River Terrace Apartments on Eighth Street on a complaint about a disturbance.
