BENTON HARBOR — Virtual learning is getting a boost now that Benton Harbor school board trustees approved buying 935 Dell Chromebooks and 30 charging stations.

The $238,375 cost will come out of federal Title IV funds, Superintendent Andrae Townsel told trustees during their Tuesday meeting. He said purchasing the laptops will help put the district on a more equal footing with surrounding school districts when it comes to distance learning, especially with school buildings being closed the rest of the school year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
