Whirlpool Corp. announced Thursday its new goal of achieving net zero emissions across its facilities by 2030.

BENTON HARBOR — Whirlpool Corp. began the new year by surpassing Wall Street projections by a wide margin.

The Benton Harbor appliance maker revealed its first-quarter GAAP net earnings Wednesday to be $433 million, or $6.81 per diluted share, compared to the $154 million, or $2.45 per diluted share, reported in the same quarter of last year.
