Berrien County Historical Association Direction Rhiannon Cizon said the archive shelving makes it difficult for staff to pull artifacts.

BERRIEN SPRINGS — There’s no new sheriff in town, but his house could still use a touch-up.

The Berrien County Historical Association received a $10,000 grant and a one-to-one $10,000 matching grant from the Frederick S. Upton Foundation to renovate the sheriff’s house on the courthouse square, totaling $30,000 – should the association raise the $10,000 from the community.

The sheriff’s residence is located at the courthouse square in Berrien Springs, the former home of the county seat.

Funds from the grants will be used by the Berrien County Historical Association to organize its collections at the sheriff’s house in Berrien Springs.
