BRIDGMAN — As the Russian invasion of Ukraine continues, nuclear power plants are looking to pivot away from Russian uranium.
Cook Nuclear Plant has already sourced its enriched and converted uranium from American and European firms through 2025, said Joel Gebbie, the senior vice president and chief nuclear officer of AEP’s Cook Nuclear Plant. In the meantime, Cook, other nuclear stakeholders and government officials are working to shift American nuclear plants’ dependance away from Russia.
