COLOMA — Coloma Junior High School Counselor Celeste Wyatt has always dreamed of being able to counsel students with the help of a furry friend.

“Lots of places use dogs now: schools, courts, hospitals. There’s a lot of research that shows people relax when a dog comes in a room,” she said. “For kids, in general, it enhances reading skills, their motivation for school, their comfort level for school. It just has a lot of different benefits academically, socially and emotionally.”
