The U.S. Department of Commerce's Economic Development Administration awarded a grant to help with economic recovery ahead of the closure of Palisades Nuclear Power Plant in Covert in 2022.

COVERT — Southwest Michigan got a boost from the federal government this week in anticipation of the Palisades Power Plant next spring.

The U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration is awarding a $969,261 grant to the Southwestern Michigan Commission to develop an economic recovery strategy ahead of the closure, according to a news release.
