HARTFORD — Van Buren County Sheriff’s detectives are continuing to investigate a shooting incident that left a 34-year-old Hartford man in critical condition.

Detectives are not yet releasing the name of the man who was shot or the 36-year-old woman who shot him.

“We don’t have an update at this time,” Lt. Greg Pentland said on Monday. “We are still waiting on an arraignment.”

The shooting incident was reported at 7:09 p.m., Saturday, when deputies were told that a man had been shot in the stomach. When deputies arrived at a residence in the 62000 block of 66th Avenue they found the man laying on the porch with a gunshot wound to his abdomen from a .20-gauge shotgun.

The woman was detained at the scene while first aid was administered to the victim. A helicopter from Air-Care transported the man to Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo, where he was listed in critical condition.

The woman was arrested on charges of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon and taken to Van Buren County Jail to await arraignment.
