SOUTH HAVEN — COVID-19-related medical calls and Lake Michigan drownings led to a busy year in 2020 for South Haven Area Emergency Services first responders.

In 2020, SHAES responded to 2,368 calls for assistance, up 187 calls from 2,171 complaints reported in 2019, and up 82 from the 2016 mark of 2,276 calls, according to the authority’s 2020 report released Monday.
