ST. JOSEPH — A 2021 budget that dips into Berrien County’s reserve funds by a little over $10 million was unanimously approved Thursday by county commissioners, but not without some reservations.

Commissioner Ezra Scott said that when the same thing was passed last year for the 2020 budget, he was the sole commissioner who opposed it. This time, he said he was supporting it, but something has to be done in the future to bring spending in line with revenues.
