Bill Chickering retired Dec. 31 after serving six years as a Berrien County commissioner. Prior to that Chickering had put in many years with the St. Joseph school board.

ST. JOSEPH — Bill Chickering of St. Joseph is looking forward to spending more time with his three young granddaughters in Cincinnati now that he’s retired from the Berrien County Board of Commissioners.

But the 69-year-old said he has no plans to leave Southwest Michigan.
