ST. JOSEPH — A second former board member of the Humane Society of Southwestern Michigan is calling on the current board president to resign.

“I believe that is best for the organization and would give the organization the best chance to survive,” said Don Blackmond of Dowagiac, who was president of the board for eight years and helped former Executive Director Jill Svoboda raise more than $2 million to build the new shelter at 5400 S. Niles Road, Royalton Township, in 2018.
