ST. JOSEPH — The cargo ship known as the Manitowoc was anchored offshore in Lake Michigan for a week due to river currents being too strong to come into port.

Kristine Pach, office manager at Anchors Way Marina in St. Joseph, said the ship was diverted to Grand Haven and left from St. Joseph on Thursday without being able to unload a shipment of limestone to Reith-Riley Construction.
