ST. JOSEPH — As agreed to in a plea deal reached with prosecutors last month, a woman who set fire to her brother’s home while he, his four children and two other adults were inside, will spend at least seven years in prison.

Berrien Chief Assistant Prosecutor Jeff Taylor said Jessica Mercado-Rodriguez was sentenced Monday in Berrien County Trial Court to 7-20 years for second-degree arson and 29 months to 10 years for assault with intent to do great bodily harm.
