BLM mural

The St. Joseph City Commission voted against a Black Lives Matter mural on Stadium Drive outside St. Joseph High School on Monday, but instead decided to work with community members to come up with another way to convey the same message.

ST. JOSEPH — Emotions ran high Monday night as the St. Joseph City Commission considered a proposal to allow a Black Lives Matter street mural to be painted on a city street near St. Joseph High School.

In the end, after two hours of discussion in a meeting held online on Zoom, city commissioners voted to work with high school students and other citizens to come up with a way to convey the message that Black lives do matter. But it will not be in the form of a street mural.
