ST. JOSEPH TOWNSHIP — Residents showed up in force Tuesday to voice their opposition to a proposed development on the Nye’s Apple Barn property, and the St. Joseph Township board listened.

On a 6-0 vote, the board voted to reject a special use permit request that was part of a mixed-use planned unit development proposal for the 12-acre parcel along Niles Road. Trustee Tom Milnikel abstained because he serves as the board’s liaison to the St. Joseph Township Planning Commission, and had previously voted as a planner.
