Jenna and Scott Harry are expecting a baby in September, making their child the sixth generation of Gasts to farm this spot. The couple is holding a grand reopening Sunday for the family’s farm stand.

STEVENSVILLE — Five generations of the Gast family have farmed in Southwest Michigan, and the sixth is due in September.

As a 5-year-old, Dennis Gast pulled out some tomatoes in his red Radio Flyer wagon and opened a retail stand on the property in addition to the family’s wholesale operations, which had been going on since the 1880s. In 1986, he closed the stand to work with the Department of Natural Resources.
