Traffic heads down John Beers Road, east of St. Joseph Avenue, near downtown Stevensville on Thursday. Portions of streets within the village will see an increase in speed limits soon.

STEVENSVILLE — A driver caught traveling 90 mph down John Beers Road last year has led to several speed limits being increased in Stevensville.

At Wednesday’s board meeting, President David Wenger said the village had to update its speed limits after the driver’s attorney challenged whether the speed designations had been certified. If the speed limits had not be increased and certified, Wenger said law enforcement would no longer be able to enforce them.
