Tavarez is passionate about equipping urban leaders with cross-cultural leadership and ministry skills, and advocating for those in the margins.

Second Baptist Church, 600 Donald Adkins Drive, Benton Harbor, will hold its baccalaureate service at 11 a.m. Sunday. Graduate speakers will be Jalen Beck, Deonte Campbell-Sims, Tadra Lewis and Brianna White. Also participating will be Kennedy Robinson, LaDonna Pryor and Charles Hudson-Smith. David Tidwell’s free lecture series on world religions continues from 11 a.m.-noon Tuesday at First Congregational Church, 651 Phoenix St., South Haven, with Buddhism. The public is invited to attend.
