ST. JOSEPH — St. Joseph Buddhist Sangha will host a day of silent meditation from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. June 22 in the community room at Caring Circle, 4025 Health Park Lane.

Jerry Ashmore, a senior dharma teacher with the Empty Circle Zen group in Hobart, Ind., will lead the group.

Ashmore has been practicing Buddhist meditation since 1978. He has been training with the Kwan Um School of Zen since the early 1980s, and became a senior dharma teacher in 2011. Empty Circle is a satellite of Indianapolis Zen Center.

The day will be dedicated to long-time Sangha member Ray Wagner.

The peaceful day will feature mindful sitting, walking and eating.

Ashmore will introduce participants to Buddhist meditation.

A potluck vegetarian lunch will be provided.

No previous meditation experience is required.

Donations are suggested to assist with the teacher’s traveling expenses and to express gratitude for the teachings.
