‘Matter of Balance’ offered in Harbert

HARBERT — The Region IV Area Agency on Aging will offer “Matter of Balance” starting June 11 at the River Valley Senior Center, 13321 Red Arrow Highway.

“Matter of Balance – Managing Concerns About Falls” is a program designed to reduce the fear of falling and increase activity levels among older adults.

Classes will be from 1-3 p.m., Tuesdays through July 30. The classes are led by a trained facilitator.

There is a $20 fee for the participant book.

Hamel to speak to Lakeshore chamber

STEVENSVILLE — The Lakeshore Chamber of Commerce will continue its Leadership Connections series from 5-7 p.m. June 17.

The networking event will meet at Tosi’s Restaurant, 4337 Ridge Road. The guest speaker will be Dr. Loren Hamel, president of Spectrum Health Lakeland.

Attendees will learn more about Lakeland Health’s integration into Spectrum Health.

Hamel graduated from Andrews University before attending the Loma Linda University School of Medicine in California. He also holds a master’s degree in health services administration from the University of Michigan.

An experienced family physician, Hamel treated Southwest Michigan residents for 23 years at University Medical Specialties in Berrien Springs.

The June 17 event is free for Lakeshore Chamber members, and $10 for nonmembers.

Light appetizers will be served, and a cash bar will be available.
