Clinical educator visits North Berrien Senior Center
COLOMA — Michael Rushlow, RN, a clinical educator for Spectrum Health Lakeland, will present “Carbohydrate Counting” at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at North Berrien Senior Center, 6648 Ryno Road.
The seminar, which is open to the public, is the third part of a free series on diabetes management.

Free community CPR class offered at The Orchards Mall
BENTON TOWNSHIP — Spectrum Health Lakeland will host a free CPR training class from 5:30-9:30 p.m. Tuesday in the community room at The Orchards Mall, 1800 Pipestone Road.
The course is for anyone 16 or older with limited or no medical training who needs a course completion card in CPR and AED use to meet job, regulatory or other requirements.
Participants will earn a two-year certification for HeartSaver CPR AED from the American Heart Association.

Lakeland offering free class on babysitting in B. Harbor
BENTON HARBOR — To help adolescents learn how to be safe sitters, Spectrum Health Lakeland will host a free “Babysitting with Confidence” class from 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Benton Harbor Fettig Youth Campus, 600 Nate Wells Sr. Drive.
Created specifically for adolescents, the course covers a variety of topics intended to give participants the confidence and knowledge for caring for small children, including: questions to ask before taking a job, expectations of a babysitter, telephoning in an emergency, home and fire safety, infant and toddler care, first aid and choking, discipline and food preparation.
Participants must be in the fifth grade or be at least 11 years old to register.
Registration is required as class size is limited.

Free wellness event planned at Elite Barbershop in BH
BENTON HARBOR — Spectrum Health Lakeland will host a neighborhood-centered health home event from 2-6 p.m. Thursday at Elite Barbershop, 1301 Pipestone Road.
There will be free blood pressure screenings, and a nurse and clinical educator will be on-site for personal health coaching sessions.
Those in attendance can meet with a Lakeland resident physician, and participate in a discussion about key medical topics.
Walk-ins will be welcomed.
