An Abraham Lincoln impersonator walks in the Eau Claire Fourth of July parade in 2014.

There are certain things I look forward to every year: the start of baseball, the first warm spring day, the scent of fresh-cut grass, the crackle of the fire, the Berrien County Youth Fair and the Eau Claire Cherry Festival.

The latter was supposed to be last weekend, but like many events this year, it was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic. It was lined up perfectly this year, too. The Fourth was on a Saturday, so it would be easy to sit back and enjoy the holiday all day.
