Jenn and Mike Stone were living in Lansing when they heard the Olympus Diner was closing. They decided to move back home and open their own restaurant in Bridgman, the Early Bird Eatery.

BRIDGMAN — Inspired by the memory of an old woman sitting in the corner hand-forming gnocchi at a small Italian restaurant, Mike Stone wanted to own a restaurant where the food was handcrafted, simple and delicious.

A graduate of the International Culinary School at the Art Institute in Denver, Stone did an internship cooking in Italian restaurants. It’s this image that helps define the decidedly non-Italian menu at the Early Bird Eatery along Red Arrow Highway.
