The following is an excerpt from a sermon I delivered on how to stop the toxic habit of judgment. In it I talk about a do-it-yourself technique to keep from spiritually poisoning oneself and others while waiting on Grace.

One of the most spiritually helpful things Jesus said was, “Judge not, lest you also be judged.” Using mindful attention to his own spiritual life, he observed that judging other people harshly had an immediate toxic kickback. The harsh judgment of another is like a drip of spiritual poison into your psyche and into your relationships with others.
