The Livery hosts new weekend beer event

BENTON HARBOR — Each Friday for the last several years, The Livery, 190 Fifth St., has debuted a different beer brewed in a firkin.

The special cask ales have lead the Benton Harbor brewery to create “Firkin Fest,” a weekend of firkins, food and music.

Doors open at 8 p.m. Friday, with The Crane Wives performing at 8:30 p.m. The Crane Wives are a Grand Rapids-based Americana/folk band.

Doors open at 8 p.m Saturday, with the Larry Keel Experience performing at 9 p.m.

Larry Keel, a bluegrass musician since 1976, his wife, Jenny, on bass, and various other musicians make up the Larry Keel Experience.

Tickets for each show are $12 in advance or $15 at the door.

A two-day pass, with admission to both concerts, a tasting glass, a beer token for a firkin pour and other Livery gifts, is $25.

WIRX’s Bike Bash returns for fourth year

BERRIEN SPRINGS — Rock 107 WIRX will bring back Bike Bash this Saturday for the fourth year.

The even is from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Berrien County Youth Fairgrounds, 9122 U.S. 31.

Admission is $5, and children 12 and younger are free.

The event will have local motorcycles on display for a best-of-show competition, a pre-owned zone, live music from Jesse Ray and the Carolina Catfish, food trucks, beer and wine, and vendors.

A portion of beer and wine sales and event proceeds will benefit the Southwest Michigan Human Trafficking Task Force.

In addition, the event will include giveaways, a Blessing of the Bikes, a motorcycle to bash for charity, and an awards ceremony.

Bike registration through today is $20, or $25 on Saturday. Check in is from 9-10:30 a.m.

Judged classes will include: Big Wheel Custom Bagger, Stock Custom Bagger, Stock Touring American, Stock Touring Import, Vintage All ’69 and older, Classic All ’70-’85, Sportster, Cruiser (Dyna, Softtail), Sport, English (Norton, BSA, Triumph), Trike American, Trike Import, Stock Import (Above 650), Stock Import (Below 650), Diva (ladies only), best themed, kids 18 and younger, best of show, and people’s choice.

Those interested in selling bikes can register through today for $15. Registration is $20 on Saturday.

Bike registration is first come, first serve, and includes admission and an event T-shirt.

‘I Am the Greatest’ bash is Saturday

BENTON HARBOR — The sixth annual “I Am the Greatest” Beach Bash – hosted by ARS Arts & Culture Center, Third Coast Surf Shop and North Pier Brewing – is Saturday.

The event will be from 6-9 p.m. at North Pier Brewing, 670 N. Shore Drive. It will raise funds for the “I Am the Greatest” Program, which helps educate local at-risk youth.

The classes at ARS are designed to teach and assist youth in assessing their strengths and determining their goals through lessons about community, public art and the history of Muhammad Ali. The classes run year round and include workshops, after-school classes, summer camp and some private lessons.

The Beach Bash will feature food, beer, a silent/live auction, live entertainment by Jimmy Fastiggi, hula lessons/performance, fire dancing and a tiki toss.
