Summer Ball-Glavis sells some of her Wild Island products at the St. Joseph farmers market during the summer months.

Summer Ball-Glavis, who spent much of her childhood on islands, first St. Thomas and then Maui, has brought tropical flavors to Southwest Michigan.

Her cooking background is more complex than just the healthy ingredients of places where fresh fruits and vegetables grow year round. Her grandfather, L.L. Ball, loved to cook.
