COVERT -- Southwest Michigan was within "seconds" of losing
power in the massive blackout that affected much of the nation when
the Palisades Nuclear Power Plant nearly shut down, U.S. Rep. Fred
Upton said.
Palisades was experiencing irregularities at the time of the
blackout and had been given clearance to shut down, according to
the St. Joseph Republican.
