An anchor for the community: Britten prepares for a new aspect of public health

BENTON TOWNSHIP — Nicki Britten had been planning for “the big one” her entire career.

“A pandemic was just always on the radar as something that could happen, but not driving all of your daily things,” she said in a recent interview. “I imagine it’s what people moving to the southern states think about hurricanes. You know it could come, it might not hit you when it comes, but when it comes, you’ll figure out what to do, or maybe it won’t be so bad.”
