The 55 mph speed zone on I-94 in south St. Joseph may soon be history. After numerous stops and starts, a bill that would allow Michigan drivers to drive 65 mph on most interstates sped through the Legislature on Thursday evening. “That bill went through here at 80 miles an hour,” Sen. Joseph Convoy, D-Flint, after the Senate voted 20-17 without any debate to approve the bill, catching opponents by surprise.
