BRIDGMAN — Gerald Heath will be the new principal of Bridgman High School beginning Monday.

Formerly middle/high school principal at Lake Michigan Catholic, Heath replaces Sam Stine, who was named director of curriculum, instruction and special education for Bridgman schools earlier this summer.

“I am excited to begin the next phase of my career at Bridgman High School. I look forward to becoming part of the outstanding educational community that Bridgman is known for while working with the talented staff with the goal of challenging our students to succeed,” Heath said Monday after the school board hired him with a unanimous vote.

Heath received his bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University and his master’s degree in education from Aquinas College. Heath has been an assistant principal/athletic director at Lake Michigan Catholic and a high school math teacher, along with being a football and track coach. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves from February 1998 to September 2004.

“Gerald is an excellent candidate for Bridgman High School. He is a leader who will bring us new, exciting and creative opportunities. Bridgman Public Schools is fortunate to have a person of Gerald’s qualities joining our administrative staff,” said Superintendent Shane Peters.
