COLOMA — Every year the citizens of Coloma put on their favorite green clothes and celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with a day-long event.

This year Coloma’s St. Patrick’s Day celebration is Saturday, March 16.

The day will start with a 5K Run/Walk at 9 a.m. at the Coloma Township Hall, 4919 Paw Paw Lake Road. Registration starts at 8 a.m. The cost is $25 and proceeds will go to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. For more information and to sign up, visit runsignup.com/colomastpatricks5k.

The Coloma Public Library, 151 W. Center St., will host a book sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The book sale will have books, gently used puzzles, DVDs, magazines, audiobooks and more. The library will remain open during the sale.

The North Berrien Historical Museum, 300 Coloma Ave., will join in Coloma’s St. Patrick’s Day activities for the third year. The museum is inviting families to bring their children to participate in a self-guided Irish-themed scavenger hunt around the museum in search of the hidden pot of gold.

The free event is from 2:30-4:30 p.m. and is designed for ages 6 and up. For questions, contact the museum at 468-3330 or by email at peter@northberrienhistory.org.

The Coloma United Methodist Church, 144 S. Church St., will serve an Irish Stew Dinner from 5-6:30 p.m. The public is invited and the dinner, including stew, salad, a roll, desert and a beverage is $7 for adults and $4 for children under 12.

All proceeds will go to the backpack program for children and the church’s general fund. Take-outs are available. For more information, contact the church office during regular business hours at 468-6062.

The day will conclude with a lighted parade at 8:30 p.m.

The parade will begin at the Coloma Fire Station, 170 Washington St., and proceed through town, stretching down South Paw Paw Street towards the Dairy Queen with awards back at the fire station. Awards, cocoa and cookies will be served immediately after back at the fire station.
