ST. JOSEPH — The Southwest Enforcement Team, West Office, announced two recent drug raids that resulted in arrests.

On Friday, SWET detectives, along with the Berrien Tactical Response Unit and the Berrien County Sheriff’s Road Patrol, executed a search warrant in Benton Harbor following a three-month investigation into the distribution of alleged illegal narcotics. Troy McClinton, 37 was arrested and charged with possession to deliver crack cocaine. Ricky Coates, 37, was arrested and charged with possession of crack cocaine, an alleged second offense, and possession of ammunition by a felon, according to a news release. Both were taken to the Berrien County jail.

During the search, officers say they found crack cocaine, packaging materials, scales, ammunition and other drug-related items.

On June 6, SWET detectives and deputies from the Berrien County Sheriff’s Department executed a search warrant in Benton Harbor after a two-month investigation into the distribution of heroin and crystal meth. Davone Williams, 29, was arrested and charged with delivery of methamphetamine; two counts of delivery of heroin; and possession with intent to deliver heroin and meth. All are alleged second offenses. He was taken to the Berrien County jail.

During the search, officers say they found a half-ounce of heroin, an ounce of crystal meth and other drug-related items, detectives reported.

The Southwest Enforcement Team is comprised of officers from the Berrien County Sheriff’s Department, Allegan County sheriff’s office, Barry County Sheriff’s Office, Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, Covert Township Police Department, Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office, Kalamazoo Township Police Department, Michigan State Police, South Haven Police Department, Saint Joseph County Sheriff’s Office, and Sturgis Police Department.
