STEVENSVILLE — The Lakeshore Lancer Marching Band wrapped up yet another winning season this weekend.
The group earned its 7th State Championship Saturday night at Ford Field in Detroit. It was their 4th consecutive state win.
The Michigan Competing Band Association is comprised of 57 of the finest marching bands from across the state, the band’s director Lori VonKoenig said Sunday.
Vonkoenig has directed the band for 31 years. Other directors are band teachers, Matthew Pagel and Joel Hosey.
“The band continues to be successful because of the incredible support of the band parents, school administration and community as well as the hard work and dedication of the band students at Lakeshore,” VonKoenig said.
She said this year’s show was titled “Code of Honor” and was about chivalry.
In addition to taking home first place in Flight IV against nine other bands, the Lakeshore Band won the caption awards for Outstanding Music and Visual Performance.
Other area bands that competed at the M.C.B.A. State finals included Watervliet, Buchanan and Edwardsburg.
Watervliet placed 6th and Buchanan placed 8th in Flight V. Edwardsburg tied for 4th in Flight IV.
