DOWAGIAC — Joe Odenwald’s first board meeting as Southwestern Michigan College president featured good news on the enrollment front, an update on the strategic planning process and the start of a year-long board policy review.

Odenwald took over as the college’s eighth president Jan. 1, succeeding David Mathews. Odenwald was chosen to be the new president last fall from a field of four internal candidates. He has been at SMC for two years, serving before this as the vice-president of student services.
