BERRIEN SPRINGS - The setting might have been historic, but the trial Wednesday inside the 1839 Courthouse in downtown Berrien Springs had much more modern themes as a juvenile domestic violence case was heard before a jury of six county residents.

The case brought against a juvenile male from Buchanan stemmed from an early July incident in which he allegedly assaulted his then-girlfriend at his home on West Front Street. The alleged victim - who said she is pregnant with the young man's child - testified as did a girlfriend, her boyfriend and the defendant's mother, who were all in the home at the time of the incident.
