Melissa Hensley, recently named Berrien County’s 911 Dispatcher of the Year for 2019, has found her niche in the often stressful world of dealing with emergencies.

When Ron Weaver of Baroda called 911 on Dec. 14, his pickup truck was upside down in a flooded ditch and the cab was filling with water.

On the other end of the line was Melissa Hensley. Her calm demeanor and the work of rescuers led to Weaver being pulled from the truck, saving his life.
