Students at the St. Joseph school district’s Lincoln Elementary School are taking Benjamin Franklin’s “a penny saved is a penny earned” advice to heart. They’re saving their pennies and dollars to deposit in a functioning bank at the school itself. The bank, complete with deposit books, tellers and a branch manager represents a partnership with Berrien Teachers Credit Union. The Lincoln Branch is located in the principal’s office and is open every Thursday.
